In April 2004, I joined Tokyo Ichiban Foods Co.,Ltd, which runs globe fish restaurants ‘Torafugu Tei’ (Torafugu = globe fish) in Tokyo and around, with many other newly graduates employed as the first members. The first job I got was to create the multi store operation manual. I also had field experience, and helped recruiting newly graduates. Since our manager asked us to achieve something concrete on the spot, I got the globe fish chef license certified by Tokyo government, and became a store manager. There I hit record high sales and was awarded prizes such as new face award and MVP award. I was also interested in IPO so I also contributed to the documentary arrangement for listing application, expecting this to be a valuable experience. I lived very close to the office, within 10 minutes bicycle ride, and worked so hard 24/7. I worked super hard and in December 2006, I rang the bell at Tokyo Stock Exchange. It was when I reached 25 years old
After our company was listed on the TSE, I especially focused on management and training. As I was involved in the particular project to characterize our company at that time, I took initiative on Nagasaki project, and improved it. I organized and carried out seminars such as ‘Torafugu Tei Forum’ where stakeholders can join and learn together. As food safety has become a popular issue, I researched beef traceability as a theory when I was studying at university, which I put into practice as ‘globe fish traceability’, after I become a business person. In March 2008, I held ‘Trafugu Tei Forum’ which combined food instructors, our consumers, our producers, Nagasaki prefecture, and our company members, and 6 different industries met. It led to the regional revitalization of Nagasaki prefecture and Matsuura City of Nagasaki. These activities were featured in the media such as‘Nagasaki Yume Hyakkei’ (Nagasaki prefecture’s local magazine), ‘Nihon Keizai Shimbun (Nikkei’s main newspaper), Nikkei’s Marketing Journal Newspaper, and some other newspapers of Fisheries industry. My twenties were fully exciting..
On the other hand I started to think that I should make the most of what I have learned and experienced, to ‘contribute to the society’, and make it my ‘lifelong mission’. For two years I kept thinking, then I graduated from the company in 2011.
